SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Two Iraqis were killed at a refugee camp in northeast Syria, North press news agency reported on Thursday.
The Kurdish security forces found bodies of two Iraqi refugees in al-Hol camp on Wednesday, the news agency cited a source in the Asayish as saying.
Hajer Atallah Abdulhamid was shot dead inside her tent while Mohammed Najibwas was shot near his tent, according to the news agency.
More than 25 people have been killed in the camp in the past four months, according to authorities.
Kurdish authorities have claimed individuals affiliated with Islamic State (ISIS) sleeper cells were behind the killing of refugees in the camp.
The al-Hol camp is home to as many as 70,000 people who have been displaced by the civil war in Syria and the fight against Islamic State (ISIS) militants. As many as half are Iraqis.
Around 10,000 foreigners are housed in secure annex, and many in the camp remain die-hard ISIS supporters.
Kurdish authorities have warned that the camp is turning into an extremist powder keg due to ISIS militants hiding out among camp residents.
The U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have repeatedly called on the international community to repatriate their citizens held in northeast Syria.
In late March, the SDF launched a five-day sweep inside the camp. At least 125 suspects were detained.
