Kurdistan reports 24 COVID-19 deaths in highest daily total: ministry

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Kurdistan Region reported 24 deaths related to COVID-19 on Wednesday, the highest number of deaths confirmed in a single day this year, according to figures released by the Iraqi health ministry.

Iraq’s ministry of health said there were eight new deaths in each Erbil, Sulaimani and Duhok in the previous 24 hours.

The Kurdistan Region also registered 1,442 new cases in Duhok, 945 in Sulaimani and 785 in Erbil, the ministry’s official figures showed.

The Iraqi health ministry recorded 12,713 new deaths across the country, including 73 deaths and 6,574 recoveries.

The new cases brought Iraq’s tallies to 1,673,084 and 18,938 deaths.
