SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Lithuanian foreign minister Gabrielius Landsbergis arrived in Baghdad on an official visit on Thursday, the Iraqi foreign ministry said.

Landsbergis will hold talks with his Iraqi counterpart Fuad Hussein during his visit, the ministry’s spokesman, Ahmed al-Sahhaf, said in a statement.

He is also expected to meet with Iraqi President Barham Salih and Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi.

His visit came after he held a telephone call with the Iraqi foreign minister on July 8.

The ministers agreed to “seek opportunities for cooperation in the field of irregular migration, as the number of Iraqi migrants trying to cross Lithuanian-Belarussian border illegally had soared during the previous months,” the Lithuanian foreign ministry said in a statement.

They also agreed to continued the talks in Baghdad.
