SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani said on Wednesday the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) would facilitate investment for traders in the Kurdistan Region, warning against interference in business affairs.

Talabani met with traders in Sulaimani province on Wednesday to discuss the importance of private sector, his office said in a statement.

He further said the private sector alongside the public sector should be helpful to provide job opportunities and to revive the Region’s infrastructure, the statement read.

“No one or no party can interfere in business affairs and monopolize the market anymore,” Talabani was cited as saying.

“It is the duty of the security forces to provide security and to protect lives of citizens, and they must avoid politics,” he added.

The deputy premier also said the KRG would further free the market and would secure a “healthy competition” for traders and business activities, according to the statement.

The KRG will work to reduce routines in the government’s institutions through decentralization, he noted.
