SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Iraqi ministry of oil said it had picked China’s state-run CNCEC to build an oil refinery at the port of Fao on the Gulf.

The refinery in Fao will have a 300,000 barrel-per-day capacity, the Iraqi oil ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.

The refinery will also include a petrochemical plant, it added.

“This project is the largest investment project in the oil industry, specifically in the refining sector and petrochemical industries,” oil minister Ihsan Abdul Jabbar said.

China National Chemical Engineering Co. Ltd. is a construction engineering company, ranking 42nd among general contractors worldwide by revenue.
