SULAIMANI (ESTA) — At least 35 sheep were killed in a Turkish airstrike in the sub-district of Deraluk in northeast of Duhok on Thursday, according to the owner.

Turkish warplanes conducted airstrikes in the village of Spindare in Deraluk, Esta Media Network reporter in Duhok said.

Shimal Spindary, owner of a project where livestock is raised, said the strikes hit his project in the village, killing more than 35 sheep.

“The project’s building is destroyed completely,” he told Esta Media Network.

Earlier on Thursday, Turkish warplanes carried out strikes five times against targets around Mizhe village in Deraluk, according to a local official.

“There were no casualties but damaged the forests in the village,” director of Deraluk Sami Ushana said.

Turkey has taken its decades-old conflict with the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) deep into the Kurdistan Region, establishing military bases and deploying armed military drones against the fighters in their mountain strongholds.

Most of the operations have focused on territory up to 30 km (20 miles) from the border.
