SULAIMANI (ESTA) — An Iraqi federal policeman was killed in an Islamic State (ISIS) attack in south of Kirkuk late on Saturday, Esta Media Network reporter said.

Esta’s reporter said a number of ISIS militants attacked a unit of the Iraqi federal police in Riyadh sub-district in Hawija on Saturday night.

A policeman was killed in clashes which lasted an hour, the reporter said.

Iraq declared victory over Islamic State in December 2017 but the militants have regrouped in the Hamrin mountain range which extends into the northern provinces – an area described by officials as a “triangle of death”.
