Iraq announces 10-day curfew to curb coronavirus outbreak

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Iraqi government announced on Tuesday it will impose a 10-day curfew across the country, as part of measures to curb coronavirus pandemic.

The Iraqi Council of Ministers held a meeting on Tuesday to discuss several issues, including measures against the coronavirus outbreak.

“The Council of Ministers … approved recommendation of Supreme Committee for National Health and Safety to impose a total curfew for a period of 10 days,” the prime minister’s office said in a statement.

The curfew starts on May 12 until May 22, it added.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Iraqi health ministry said it had recorded 971,793 cases of coronavirus in the country, including 15,608 deaths.
