Magnitude 4.6 quake hits Iran’s Kermanshah – EMSC

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — A 4.6 magnitude earthquake hit Iran’s Kermanshah province on Monday, according to European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre.

The EMSC said the epicenter of the earthquake was located five kilometers of southwest of Sarpol Zahab and 108 kilometers northwest of Ilam in eastern Iran.

The quake was at a depth of 100 kilometers, the EMSC added.

There were no immediate reports of casualties.

Crisscrossed by major fault lines, Iran is one of the most earthquake-prone countries in the world. In 2003 a magnitude 6.6 quake in Kerman province killed 31,000 people and flattened the ancient city of Bam.
