SULAIMANI (ESTA) — A group affiliated with the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan (PDKI) on Saturday claimed responsibility for an attack on Iran’s revolutionary guards last week.
A group of armed men attacked Iran’s revolutionary guards in Piranshahr city on April 16, killing one.
Zagros Eagles militant group operating in the Kurdish areas in Iran said its fighters had carried out the attack against the revolutionary guards in retaliation for killing a PDKI Peshmerga.
“The member had claimed before that he had killed a Peshmerga,” the group said in a statement.
The Zagros Eagles group intermittently carries out attacks against Iranian forces in the Kurdish areas in eastern Iran.
According to the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan, the group’s members include university graduates.
