Kurdistan Region president meets Macron in Paris

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani met with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Elysee Palace in Paris on Tuesday.

Barzani arrived in France on Monday night for talks with Macron.

The Kurdistan Region’s Presidency said in a statement that Macron had invited Barzani to pay a visit to France.

Barzani said in a tweet that they had discussed bilateral relations and the latest developments in Iraq and the region.

“I am delighted to have met my friend President @EmmanuelMacron today in Paris. I reiterated my appreciation for France’s continued support to the Kurdistan Region. We discussed bilateral ties, pressing Iraqi and regional issues, as well as opportunities and challenges ahead.”

In July 2019, the Region’s president met with Macron in Paris.
