Rockets land near Peshmerga forces south of Erbil

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Several rockets were fired towards Peshmerga forces stationed in south of Erbil on Monday night, the ministry of Peshmerga said.

In a statement, the Kurdistan Region’s ministry of Peshmerga said the rockets fell near Prde-Dibiz frontline of the Peshmerga forces near the village of Nabi Awa.

“Peshmerga and their positions had no damages,” it added.

Earlier, Peshmerga commander Tariq Hassari told Esta Media Network that the exact number of the rockets was still unclear and that the Kurdish forces were also attacked with heavy weapons following the rocket attack.

“The attacks were carried out in the direction of Kirkuk,” he said. “We have gathered and started moving towards the area of the rockets, and we still don’t know what the damages are.”

Another Peshmerga commander said two rockets fell near the village of Chomazarda near a frontline of the Peshmerga forces.
