SULAIMANI (ESTA) — A car bomb killed seven members of Iraq’s Tribal Mobilization Units in Anbar province on Sunday, according to Iraqi media.

Al Sumaria TV cited a security source as saying that a car bomb belonging to Islamic State (ISIS) militants detonated in Shamiya area in western Ramadi city.

At least seven other members of the group, known as Hashd al-Ashairi, were also wounded in the explosion.

Hashd al-Ashairi composes of fighters from Sunni tribes and generally active locally in their own places of origin. It has played an increasing role in the fight against ISIS militants in the country.

The federal government announced victory over ISIS by the end of 2017 after Iraqi and Kurdish forces backed by U.S.-led Coalition regained control of areas once captured by the militant group.

Despite its defeat, ISIS still poses a threat to the security and stability of the country as there are still sleeper cells in Iraq.
