SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Turkish police on Monday detained 718 people across 40 provinces over alleged links to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), the Turkish interior ministry said.

The Turkish interior ministry said in a statement that heads of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) were among those detained.

The HDP is Turkey’s second largest opposition party.

“Many weapons, documents and digital materials were seized from homes and workplaces of the suspects,” the ministry said.
