Iraqi PM meets his Jordanian counterpart in Baghdad

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi met with his Jordanian counterpart Bisher Al-Khasawneh in Baghdad on Thursday, according to the premier’s office.

The Jordanian prime minister arrived in Baghdad on Thursday morning to hold talks with senior Iraqi officials.

In a statement, Kadhimi’s office said the two leaders discussed bilateral relations between Iraq and Jordan as well as the latest developments in the region.

They stressed the importance of strengthening joint cooperation between Baghdad and Amman, that achieves the interests of both country’s people, the statement read.

The press office of Jordan’s PM said in a tweet that Khasawneh would also hold talks with Iraqi President Barham Salih and Parliament Speaker Mohammed al-Halbousi during his visit.

Khasawneh’s visit came after Kadhimi paid a one-day visit to Jordan in December and met with King Abdullah II.
