The IHEC spokeswoman clarifies when the election campaign officially began

SULAIMANI – (ESTA) The Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) is verifying the names of candidates for the Kurdistan parliamentary election and her spokeswoman said, “After their approval, the date of the campaign will be determined”.

Jumana Al-Ghalai, spokeswoman of the IHEC, told Esta Media Network that “the names of the candidates are still in the verification stage, after reviewing the names by the committees and centers specialized in verification.”.

“The commission is currently auditing the names of the candidates for the Kurdistan parliamentary election, then consolidated and submitted to the council of commissioners for approval,” she said.

Also, she added, “After approval, it will be decided which candidate is right and eligible to participate in the elections.”.

The commission spokesman mentions that “after that stage, the council of commissioners will determine the date of the election campaign.”.

The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has announced that the parliamentary election will be held on October 20 in four constituencies in Erbil, Sulaimani, Halabja and Duhok provinces.
