SULAIMANI – (ESTA) On the edge of the Munich Security Conference, US Special Envoy for Climate Change John Kerry met with Bafel Jalal Talabani, the president of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK).
The political atmosphere in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq was discussed during the meeting, along with the effects of climate change on the environment in the nation. An emphasis was placed on moving quickly to take the required action to lessen the effects and address the catastrophe that faces humanity.
President Bafel Jalal Talabani gave a presentation of the PUK’s policy and strategy during the meeting, stating, “Our goals are to uphold stability, offer services, and foster a healthier environment.”
“It is gratifying that you continue your political work in the same spirit of President Jalal Talabani and your steps are to maintain unity and solidarity among political forces and parties,” Kerry responded, praising President Bafel’s attempts to settle the difficulties.
