Iraq and France pledge to enhance military cooperation in multiple domains

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Iraq and France have expressed their commitment to strengthening military cooperation in various areas, according to the Iraqi News Agency (INA) on Tuesday. 

Lieutenant General Qais al-Muhammadawi, Deputy Commander of Joint Operations, and Lieutenant General Christopher Lucas, Deputy Director of International and Strategic Relations at the French Ministry of Armies, held talks on the crucial role of the Joint Operations Command in combating terrorism and maintaining stability in Iraq, according to INA.

The report added that the command’s staff bodies were evaluated in light of their tasks, primarily focused on combating defeated terrorist elements. Both parties stressed the need to develop bilateral relations and military cooperation with France at multiple levels.

Meanwhile, Lieutenant General al-Muhammadawi commended the French forces for their exceptional efforts and vital role in training and consultation within the international coalition forces.
