SULAIMANI (ESTA) — A senior delegation from Baghdad is set to visit the oil-rich Kirkuk City on Monday, according to reporter.
Esta reporter said Iraq’s Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani has tasked a delegation to travel to Kirkuk tomorrow to investigate last week’s inter-ethnic tension in the city which left four Kurdish killed.
The delegation is led by Hadi Amiri, a prominent Iraqi Shiite figure, among whom the justice minister, as well as the foreign minister, the reporter said.
The multi-ethnic Kirkuk, an oil-rich province in northern Iraq along the fault lines between the Kurdish autonomous region and areas controlled by Iraq’s Shi’ite-dominated central government, has been the focus of some of the country’s worst post-Islamic State violence.
