SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) on Saturday banned travels from Lebanon, as part of measures to curb coronavirus.
In a statement, the KRG Ministry of Interior said it had imposed a ban on travels from Lebanon for everyone excluding Iraqis.
The decision exempts international and U.N. organizations as well as diplomats and Coalition forces.
“Citizens who are returning from Lebanon will be quarantined according to the health guidelines,” the ministry said.
The decision goes into effect on Saturday until January 15.
On Thursday, the interior ministry banned travels from Britain, South African, Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium, Iran and Japan.
The ministry also ordered the closure of border crossings of Haji Omeran, Bashmakh and Parvezkhan for tourism.
Iraqi Council of Ministers issued several decisions including travel bans on Tuesday to stem the transmission of a new coronavirus strain that health authorities say can spread faster than others.
