SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) President Bafel Talabani on Thursday called on all parties to act responsibly with the current situation of the Kurdistan Region.
PUK’s Talabani received the United Kingdom’s Consul General in the Kurdistan Region, Rosy Cave, in Sulaimani’s Dabashan area today, his press office said in a statement.
In the meeting, Talabani pointed out his party’s continued national efforts to resolve the problems and the betterment of the people’s lives, according to the statement.
“We share the same fate in the Region, therefore, we should act responsibly with the situation,” Talabani told the British diplomat.
He also called on all sides to not sacrifice the future of the Kurdistan Region and its people for the sake of personal interests.
Regarding ongoing reforms within the Peshmerga Ministry, Talabani stated that his party is acting responsibly and seeks to reorganize the forces as soon as possible within the frame of the national fair project.
The pair also discussed the issues between Erbil and Baghdad, including the Region’s financial entitlements.
“Our priority is securing the legal and constitutional rights of the Kurdistan Region and a decent life for its people,” Talabani said.
