SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) President Bafel Talabani on Sunday reaffirmed efforts to address the Kurdistan Region’s pressing issues.

“From now on, the PUK will not remain silent,” Talabani told reporters following a meeting with the rival Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) in Erbil’s Pirmam.

“Irresponsible actions will not affect us,” he said. “Any actions taken will receive an equivalent response,” he added.

“The PUK is force, it is the blood of martyrs, it is history.”

In the meantime, Talabani underlined that the meeting with the KDP “was not bad.”

However, he also said that they did not reach agreement on anything.

“We will not give up on our efforts because we have a responsibility,” he said.

A PUK delegation led by Bafel Talabani had carried out a meeting with the rival KDP earlier yesterday to discuss the internal situation, Erbil-Baghdad relations, and the Regional parliamentary elections.
