Court issues warrant for brother of New Generation Movement leader

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — an Iraqi court issued a warrant for the brother of the New Generation Movement (NGM) leader, on alleged charges related to financial fraud, Esta Media Network has learned.

Nzar Abdullwahid, NGM leader Shaswar Abdullwahid’s brother, has been charged by Baghdad’s Karada Court of Investigations per article 459 of the Iraqi penal code, according to information obtained by Esta.

Nzar whose brother leads the NGM party based in the Kurdistan Region, lives in the Iraqi capital and is known to be a wealthy businessman.

NGM was established in 2017, labeling itself the opposition party. It is widely known for its populist policies mainly against the ruling parties of the Region.
