“Iraq stands ready to assist to cement the foundation of peace in Sudan, President Rashid underlined,” according to the statement.

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Iraqi President Latif Rashid on Wednesday met with the Ambassador of the Republic of Sudan to Iraq, Abdul Rahim Siral Khatim, and discussed the ongoing Sudanese conflict.  

“President Rashid expressed concern about Sudan’s tragic situation, adding that Sudanese people deserve to have an elected and strong government that can maintain security and stability, render better public services and meet the Sudanese people’s legitimate aspirations,” a statement released by the President’s office read.

The Iraqi President “expressed the hope that security and stability in Sudan would be maintained through the cessation of fighting, and viable solutions to all issues between the political parties would be found peacefully through dialogue to strengthen peace and stability and promote civil peace.”

“Iraq stands ready to assist to cement the foundation of peace in Sudan, President Rashid underlined,” according to the statement.

“Additionally, all the measures should be taken to protect Iraqi citizens, living in Sudan, the President emphasized while adding that evacuation of the Iraqis is needed to ensure their safety and return home.”
