Iraq, France discuss cooperation to combat terrorism

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Iraq’s Justice Chief carried out a meeting with France’s Prosecutor-General in Paris, and discussed cooperation to combat terrorism.

The state-run Iraqi news agency (INA) on Wednesday reported that President of the Iraqi Supreme Judicial Council Faeq Zaidan and Prosecutor-General of France Jean-Francois Ricard met in the French Capital.

During the meeting, Iraq’s Justice Chief and France’s Ricard discussed cooperation to combat terrorism in the presence of the Iraqi Ambassador to France and vice versa.

INA’s report did not offer further details.

French troops form part of the Global Coalition to achieve the permanent defeat of the Islamic State (ISIS) terror group in Syria and Iraq led by the United States.

Approximately 200 French troops were stationed in Iraq as part of the Global anti-ISIS mission of the Coalition.
