SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Erbil security forces shut down the headquarters of the Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) on Sunday.
The KNK was set to hold a press conference in Erbil to condemn Friday’s drone attack that targeted Sulaimani International Airport.
However, massive security personnel were deployed and shut down the KNK headquarters and prevented the press conference from taking place, Esta Media Network reporter said at the vicinity of the incident.
The reporter also added that the security forces prevent reporters to cover the incident, and noted that no one is allowed to enter or exit the KNK headquarters.
The press conference was only meant to express its position on Sulaimani drone attack and express dissatisfaction.
A Turkish drone strike on Friday targeted Sulaimani International Airport but it did not cause any harm. The attack was meant to target a high-ranking delegation convoy of Rojava among whom the Commander-in-chief of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) was included, a claim that the SDF itself confirmed on Saturday.
The Rojava delegation was recently in Sulaimani, where they met with Sulaimani ruling party officials, the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), and the US-led global coalition commanders.
