SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) President Bafel Talabani on Wednesday in Erbil met with the British Minister of State for South and Central Asia, North Africa, United Nations Lord Tariq Ahmed and his accompanying delegation.
“In a meeting, attended by Qubad Talabani and Daban Shadala, the deputy head of the Kurdistan Region department of foreign relations, the internal issues of the Kurdistan Region were highlighted, stressing the importance to address them through dialogue,” read the PUK president’s office in a statement.
Regarding the Kurdistan Region parliamentary election, the PUK President pointed out the latest “initiative” to resolve the issues, saying “Election should not be further delayed under no pretext,” and “our aim is to hold a pure and clean election in which the rights of all components are secured,” he said, according to the statement.
Moreover, Talabani discussed Kurdistan-Baghdad relations with Lord Ahmed and stressed that; there is only one way to achieve the people’s rights, “It’s a fundamental agreement on the outstanding issues which the people, in general, have paid for this dispute for long,” he added.
Apart from this, the office added in the statement that the two sides discussed the reform process within the Peshmerga Ministry.
Talabani stated that he has tasked all related parties to facilitate to implementation of all of the steps of the reform process so that we can have a more capable and solid force.
