SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Iraqi Ministry of Interior on Wednesday said it will imprison anyone who publishes “fake news” via social media.
“Any individual who publishes fake news during crises will be sentenced to serve 10 years in prison,” the Interior ministry said in a statement.
The news and information that circulate on social media largely come from unknown sources, the statement said, calling on citizens to get news from official sources and avoid believing the “rumors”.
