SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) official media said Monday that an “arrest campaign” has been launched against its cadres in Kurdistan Region’s Badinan area.

It’s been days since an “arrest campaign” has been launched in Badinan against PUK cadres, the official media of the PUK said.

The “arrest campaign” has been launched based on “fabricated accusations” against the cadres, the media added in a readout.

Dozens of PUK-affiliated journalists have been arrested as a result, according to the readout.

“Security forces raided the house of a PUK-affiliated journalist, Vagir Mohammed, in Badinan area,” it said.

It further stressed that the PUK media bureau “condemns” the act, calling on local authorities to protect the lives of the arrested cadres.
