SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Deputy Prime Minister, Qubad Talabani, and the head of the diplomatic missions met on Wednesday.
The deputy prime minister’s office revealed in a statement that Talabani has reiterated his endeavors to diplomatic missions for the promotion of a convenient environment for media, freedom of criticism, and protection of women’s rights.
Talabani’s meeting took place in the city of Sulaimani, where he received the consul general of the UK, U.S., France, Greece, and South Korea along with the chief of Canada’s office in Erbil, the United Nations special envoy, and the representative of the European Union mission.
Talabani and the diplomats shed the light the public freedoms, the right of freedom of expression, and journalism. They also discussed combating the violence against women phenomenon, according to the statement.
It further added that Talabani is endeavoring to tie the local universities with the market, and demanding the local and foreign companies to benefit the Kurdish youths’ ability and university graduates.
In the meantime, the diplomats commended the deputy prime minister’s efforts, agreeing on the importance of exchanging their views in the next stage, and stressing coordination in the vital mutual issues.
