Talabani says security forces must be impartial in protecting Iraqi people

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), Bafel Talabani, on Monday, said that the security forces must be “impartial” in protecting the lives of all Iraqi people and shall be unbiased. 

The President’s remark came amid a meeting with the chief of staff of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF, or Hashd al-Shaabi).

In a meeting, the two officials highlighted the security situation in Iraq and fighting against the remnants of the Islamic State (ISIS) militants, read a statement from Talabani’s media office.

They also underlined the collaboration between the armed forces for the sake of protecting the security and stability of the country, the office added.

Speaking about the “necessity,” and the “importance” of collaborations between the forces Talabani said that “The forces’ cooperation is a strong factor of protecting stability in the country,” and “for that reason, all sides must collectively work,” he said.

“All security forces must be impartial and protect the lives of all Iraqi peoples,” and “to achieve this lofty goal, we must work in a national and responsible spirit,” he added.
