SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The President of Iraq, Latif Jamal Rashid, and the President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), Bafel Talabani, met in Baghdad on Monday, said Talabani’s office.
In the meeting, the two officials discussed the latest political development in Iraq, placing emphasis on unifying the national efforts to implement the Iraqi government agenda, the office in a statement said.
Moreover, Talabani and President Rashid also stressed succeeding in the political process, the statement added.
Discussions also touched upon Kurdistan-Baghdad issues during the meeting, according to the office.
“Our efforts to pass the disputes and resolving the issues are continuing for the sake of preserving the constitutional rights of the Kurdish people and stability of the region,” Talabani said.
Talabani had earlier announced that “There is a national will to resolve Kurdistan-Baghdad issues on the foundation of the constitution,” he said in late December.
