PUK President, PYD co-leaders highlight ‘Unity of Kurds’ in parts of Kurdistan

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) Bafel Talabani discussed the “Unity of Kurds” in parts of Kurdistan with the co-leader of the Democratic Union Party (PYD), Salih Muslim and Asya Abdulla, in Syria’s Rojava on Wednesday. 

Talabani met the co-leaders of the party in the western part of Kurdistan (Rojava) where he was also earlier met with the commander-in-chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Mazloum Abdi, in the city of Kobani on Tuesday.

In a meeting, Talabani and the co-leaders of the PYD discussed the Kurdish cause and political developments, said a statement from the PUK president’s office.

“Unity of Kurds in all four parts of Kurdistan was emphasized also PUK’s project of reorganizing the Kurdish house and achieving the Kurdistani national goals was emphasized,” the office in the statement added regarding the meeting.

“PYD co-leaders valued PUK’s patriotic and historic role in unifying the Kurdish people and stated that the visit by PUK’s President to Rojava carries with it historic and national values and that it is a clear call for unity of the Kurdish people and its struggle to secure its rights,” it added.
Moreover, Talabani shed light on PUK’s policy and stance and clarified that PUK supports all civilian and peaceful struggle that aim at protecting and securing the rights of Kurdish people, according to the office.
“Our goal is unity of the Kurdish people for which we all have to cooperate and work for the Kurdish cause because without solving the Kurdish issue there will be no peace and stability in the Middle East,” Talabani told the co-leaders.
