Deputy PM condemns ‘terrorist’ attack on security forces headquarters in Duhok

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Deputy of the Kurdistan Region Prime Minister condemned the attack that targeted the headquarters of the security forces in Duhok on Monday.

Earlier, an unidentified gunman attacked the headquarters of the security forces (Asayish) in the city of Duhok.

As a result, a member of the security forces, Azad Ibrahim, was killed while another was left injured, according to local authorities.

“I strongly condemn the terrorist attack on the Eastern Security Base in Duhok Province, which resulted in the martyrdom of one employee and the injury of another,” Talabani in a statement said on Tuesday.

“This attack demonstrates the plot by our enemies to spread disorder in the Kurdistan Region in order to further its destructive objectives,” Talabani added in the statement.

The official has also extended his condolences to the family of Ibrahim, who has was “tragically” killed after the gunman had launched the attack.

Moreover, Talabani also wished speedy recovery for the injured member of Asayish, according to the statement.

No groups have claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
