SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Chaired by the President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), the Kurdistan Region political parties meeting began in Sulaimani’s Dukan over the Region’s general political situation as well as matters relating to Baghdad.
Earlier, PUK announced that they sent out invitation letters to the first persons of the Region political parties for the ongoing meeting in Dukan resort for talks on the political situation as well as Erbil-Baghdad’s outstanding issues, the official media said.
The meeting was initiated by PUK President Bafel Jalal Talabani, said Salar Sarhad, the head of PUK’s Kurdistani Relations.
All of the Kurdistan Region political parties on the top level accepted the invitation and partook in the meeting except for the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP).
“Discussions will also touch upon Erbil-Baghdad’s outstanding issues. PUK wants to establish unity of the Kurdistan Region political parties to resolve the issues in accordance with the constitution,” and “for the sake of public interest,” Sarhad added in his words.
The PUK’s invitation has been made on based “responsibility” to resolve the issues, according to Sarhad’s words.
“This is the right policy that the Kurdistan Region and Iraq need. It’s the same policy that Mam Jalal [PUK Former Secretary-General] has laid the foundation stone for,” he added.
