PM calls citizens submit complaints if they were subjected to torture or coerced confessions

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Iraqi Prime Minister has introduced an E-mail to receive complaints from citizens who have been subjected to torture or coerced confessions, the state news agency Saturday said.

The Iraqi News Agency (INA) said Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani has dedicated an E-mail to defendants, ensuring that they have legal guarantees during the investigation stages, including not extracting confessions from them under duress or coercion.

“We call upon anyone who has been subjected to any form of torture, or forcible extraction of confessions, to submit his complaint to the Prime Minister’s Advisor for Human Rights, supported by supporting evidence, via the following e-mail: ([email protected]),” the Premier’s office said.

It further said it aims to promote and protect human rights in the country.
