Iraqi PM ensures that they bring perpetrators to justice who killed U.S. citizen

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudnai Tuesday ensured that they will bring the perpetrators to justice who were involved in killing an American citizen.

Speaking at a press briefing, Sudani told the reporters the security institutions have initiated a probe to find perpetrators.

Late Monday night A U.S citizen was killed in central Baghdad after several gunmen attempted to kidnap him but failed, Iraqi police said.

“Iraq’s security is the redline. the killing of the American citizen was a cowardly act. The date and the time of the crime deserve to be questioned,” Prime Minister Sudani said.

Stephen Edward Troell, an American citizen who also worked as an English teacher was shot dead in the Iraqi capital after gunmen in a vehicle opened fire at an SUV carrying the victim and shot him dead.

U.S. officials said they could confirm the individual, Stephen Troell, died in Baghdad but did not elaborate, offering condolences and adding, “We are closely monitoring local authorities’ investigation into the cause of death.”

So far, the incident’s details remained unclear.
