SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Iranian border guards have killed a Kurdistan Region citizen and wounded two others in Sulaimani’s Sharbazher border area, a local official on Friday said.
33-year-old Dastan Rasoul was shot dead by the Iranian border guards after he went to attend a funeral in a bordering village, where located on the Kurdistan Region-Iran (Rojhalat’s) border, the mayor of Chwarta district said.
Rasoul was not the only victim. His father and another man who were on board a vehicle together were also wounded after the guards opened fire at them, according to the mayor’s words.
Esta has learned that Kurdish authorities have initiated investigations into the incident. In the meantime, the body of the victim has been transferred to Sulaimani forensic department for the same purpose.
The wounded status remained unclear, neither their families nor the official stated anything so far. However, the available information said they were transferred to a hospital following the incident.
According to information Esta Media Network has obtained the funeral was camped in the village of Marwe.
Marwe is a bordering village situated on the Kurdistan Region-Iran (Rojahalt’s) border. It’s the last village belonging to the Region’s chwarta district.
