Cyber-attack hits institution Facebook page belonging to KRG

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The General Board for Kurdistan Areas Outside the Region’s official page on the Facebook social network has been battered by a cyber-attack, the head of the board on Friday said.

The Board is responsible to manage the affairs of the disputed areas between the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and the Federal Government.

Fahmi Burhan, the Head of the Board told the news outlets that in recent days their official page has experienced some technical problems

“However, since Friday the page is no more in our hand, it has been hacked by unknown people,” Burhan said.

The official also said that their board is not responsible for any publishing since they have lost it.

In the meantime, Burhan further said the KRG Department of Information and Media is currently in attempts to recover the page.
