Missile lands in Kurdistan’s Khurmal southeast Sulaimani

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — A missile late on Tuesday landed in the Khurmal district, causing no impacts, according to the local security forces (Asayish). 

At approximately 2300 local time residents of Khurmal heard the sound of a blast.

“Sound of a massive blast was heard in Khurmal district of Halabja province,” Esta reporter near to the vicinity of the incident said.

The possible cause of the sound was identified after Asayish launched a probe. Eight hours later they said it was a missile that landed but caused no impacts.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility. However, Khurmal is a place located close to the Iranian border.

Moreover, Asayish also said that the missile was fired from the north of the incident site without giving further details.

Iran has repeatedly attacked targets in the Kurdistan Region mostly by missile and drone with the latest one taking place in the last month.

The elite forces of Iran, the revolutionary guard corps (IRGC), rained fire on the Kurdish-Iranian rebel groups that stationed their bases in the Region on September 28, Killing 13 Kurdish dissidents and leaving 58 wounded.
