Two schoolkids in Erbil were injured after ceiling fan fell over: reporter

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — At least two schoolkids in a public primary school were injured in Erbil after a ceiling fan fell over them inside the class, Esta reporter on Sunday said.

Two schoolkids in a primary school were transferred to the emergency hospital after a ceiling fan fell over them while attending class, just a few days passed since the beginning of the new academic year.

Sarakash public primary school is the place where the incident occurred, located in the Kurdistan Region Capital, Erbil’s Badawa neighborhood.

The public schools in the Kurdistan Region are suffering from a lack of maintenance and services, most of them are outdated in terms of school-related stuff even buildings which caused in burden for the students and teachers as well.

Speaking in a press conference on Sunday, the Kurdistan Region Minister of Education Alan Hama Saeed pointed out that there is a number of schools that are in danger of collapse or unwanted incidents.

“We have made ministerial directives to halt the classes inside the schools,” the Minister said regarding the outdated schools.
