SULAIMANI (ESTA) — At least 405 people were detained in Sulaimani during the last eight months for illegal hunting charges, said an official on Wednesday.
Lieutenant General Hemin Kamarkhan, the spokesman for Sulaimani forest and environment protection police told Esta Media Network, “the protection of wild animals and birds is our duty. “we have repeatedly deployed our units in the forests to arrest the outlaws.”
“405 people were detained for different offending cases of illegal haunting in Sulaiamani’s administration border during the last eight months,” Kamrkhan by phone told Esta.
He also said that the forest police department has detained 889 people over similar charges in 2021.
“The minimum fine for hunting wild animals is 10 million Iraqi Dinners (6854$), with sentencing the offender to prison and judges will decide on the staying length,” He said.
The minimum sentence for the offender upon spending time in prison starts from a day until five years, according to Kamarkhan’s words
