PUK President meets Head of State of law coalition, reiterates PUK’s enthusiasm to reach national agreement

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) Bafel Jalal Talabani met Head of state of law coalition Nouri al-Maliki on Wednesday in Baghdad, emphasizing PUK’s enthusiasm to reach a national agreement.

President Talabani who was arrived in the Iraqi capital just today following an invitation from Iraqi Prime Minster Mustafa al-Kadhimi to take part in a high-level meeting in Baghdad aimed at launching a national dialogue to settle the disputes. And later he met Maliki.

In a meeting, the latest political developments and the efforts to build a national consensus were discussed, highlighting compromise on the basis of genuine partnership so as to save Iraq from the trapped political situation.

The meeting also welcomed the Prime Minister’s initiative to bring all different parties together to find a way to overcome the challenges, both sides asked to accelerate the initiative’s steps and make efforts for the sake of the high objectives.

President Talabani amid the meeting has reiterated PUK’s enthusiasm to reach a national agreement, saying the country’s situation desires unanimity for stability and better governance, and our goal shall be fulfilling a tranquilized and prosperous life for the people.
