SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Turkish airstrike on Syrian-hold military posts on Tuesday killed three soldiers and left six wounds in the Aleppo countryside, state media cited a military source as saying.
Turkish warplanes targeted the posts in the northwestern part of the county from 14:37 p.m. to 15:00 p.m. (11:37-12:00 GMT); the Syrian state TV and news agency reported.
Local reports said the Syrian armed forces responded to the strike by targeting Turkish military sites in the country, adding, that it caused material and human losses without giving any further details.
There was no immediate comment from the Turkish side.
Turkey has carried out several military operations in northern Syria since 2016, seizing hundreds of kilometers of land and pushing some 30 km deep into the country, mainly targeting the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic forces, in particular the People’s Protection Units (YPG).
It deems any associated military groups with Kurds in Syria as a terrorist organization, saying it undermines Turkey’s national security from the southern borders.
In the meantime, Turkey is backing opposition sides in Syria’s war when it was waged in 2011. And Damascus accuses Ankara of supporting “terrorist” groups in Syria.
