Iraqi government is ready to provide real support for negotiations: spokesperson

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Spokesperson of the Iraqi government Hassan Nadhim said on Tuesday that the government is ready to provide real support for talks between the parties. 

Spokesperson to the Iraqi government Hassan Nadhim said, the Prime Minister demands the parties to launch real talks and the government supports any initiative in the direction to the resolve of any unrest or issues.

“It is the duty of the government to protect citizens and the state’s institutions, we support any effort that aims to resolve the problems in which Iraq is trapped,” Nadhim said.

Earlier, the Iraqi Prime minister on Monday in a message launched an initiative, demanding all parties to stay calm and reduce the tensions, in order to launch an initiative for a solution on a national basis, the Iraqi news agency reported.

“Iraq faces serious political unrest, It has a dangerous outcome if wises cease to intervene,” Kadhimi said on the ongoing protests in Baghdad, and he invited all parties to sit on the national dialogue table to reach a political solution for the political crises.

In the meantime the U.S. embassy in Baghdad has released a statement saying, we encourage all sides to avoid violence and hold dialogue to resolve the issues.

“We demand all parties to take a part in negotiations and dialogue that might be a reason to reduce the tensions,” it said.

U.S. Embassy in Baghdad reaffirmed its support for peaceful protests, according to the statement.
