SULAIMANI (ESTA) — A Japanese agency will implement several projects in the Kurdistan Region, a senior Kurdish official said on Saturday.

Minister of Municipality and Tourism Sasan Awni said the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) would implement several projects of water network worth $6.7 million in Sulaimani and Halabja.

“A contract to improve drinking water in the Kurdistan Region, particularly in Sulaimani and Halabja, would be signed,” the minister said.

The ministry of municipality and tourism and JICA have also signed an agreement to rehabilitate water network of a number of neighborhoods in Erbil, Awni stated.

The Japanese agency will implement the projects in a “long-term loan”, according to the minister.
