SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Five were killed in an Islamic State attack on the Iraqi forces on Sunday, According to Iraqi Media.
Shafaq News reported that late on Sunday, IS terrorists in Diyala, Baghdad, and Salahadin Governorate, carried out an attack, targeting the Iraqi forces, and resulted in the Killing of five and wounding of eleven.
Two fighters of Saraya al-Salam, Shia cleric Muqtada al-Sadr’s military wing which is linked to the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), or Hashed al-Shaabi were killed during the confrontation with IS militants and three other fighters were wounded in Samara of the Salahadin governorate.
“PMF’s charge of intelligence was killed in Samara by IS militants”, and “Saraya killed two terrorists in return”, according to Shafaq news.
On the other hand, inside another IS attack in Diyala, One member of the Iraqi federal police was killed and eleven were wounded, six of them are members of a family. Meanwhile, in Baghdad province, three more fighters of the Iraqi forces were killed, and one terrorist was killed in response.
In 2017 Iraq declared victory over the Islamic State, however, it did not mark the ending. Some of the militants were used to regroup in what is so known as the disputed areas between the Kurdistan Region government as well as Iraq.
The area created a security vacuum, and terrorists utilized it to operate in, and pursue their own harmful actions to destabilize the country’s security.
