“At least 25 mortars were fired toward the area,” Esta’s reporter said.

Parakh village on Wednesday was shelled by a deadly Turkish artilleries attack, it targeted a touristic site of a resort, resulting in killing nine civilians and injuring 25.

In the meantime, Duhok’s Matina Mountain has been targeted four times by the Turkish warplanes last night, according to the reporter.

Turkey regularly carries out air strikes and shelling in the Kurdistan Region and has sent commandos to support its offensives as part of a long-running campaign in Iraq against militants of the Kurdistan Worker’s Party (PKK). Ankara regards as a terrorist group.

The PKK took up arms against the Turkish state in 1984.

More than 40,000 people have been killed in the conflict, which in the past was mainly focused in southeast Turkey where the PKK sought to create an ethnic homeland.
