U.S. strongly condemns Turkey’s dreadful bombing of resort in Duhok

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The U.S. Department of State spokesperson Ned Price in a press statement on Wednesday strongly condemned Turkey’s bombing of a resort in Zakho, killing at least nine Arab tourists.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Turkish artilleries carried out an attack on a touristic side in Zakho sub-district of Duhok province, resulting in killing Nine and wounding 25. The incident created a broad reaction in the international domain.

The U.S. Department of State spokesperson Ned Price in a press statement said, “The killing of civilians is unacceptable”.

“The U.S condemns the attack in the Dohuk province of Iraq, which killed and injured civilians. The killing of civilians is unacceptable”, adding that “all states must respect their obligations under international law, including the protection of civilians” he said.

“We extend our condolences to the families of those killed and our sympathies to those injured” he added.

The spokesperson also reiterated the U.S. support for both Kurdistan Region and Iraq noting that it maintains its strong support for Iraq’s sovereignty and its security, stability, and prosperity, including that of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region.
