Iraq records 2,545 new coronavirus cases in 24 hours

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Iraqi ministry of health said on Friday that it had recorded 2,545 new coronavirus cases and 42 deaths over the last 24 hours.

The Iraqi ministry said in a statement that 516 cases were in Baghdad, 395 in Kirkuk, 282 in Babil, 225 in Saladin, 167 in Diyala, 166 in Nineveh, 154 in Sulaimani, 144 in Duhok, 128 in Wasit and 105 in Erbil.

It further said 53 other cases were registered in Anbar, 52 in Basra, 45 in Najaf, 31 in Dhi Qar, 26 in Karbala, 25 in Maysan, 23 in Diwaniyah and eight in Muthanna.

The health ministry added that 1,921 more patients had recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours.

So far, Iraq has logged 547,215 cases from COVID-19, with 12,167 deaths and 476,297 recoveries, according to the ministry’s figures.
